Let's talk about trends among young people (as if I’m not a youth myself, but God bless him)👌
I'm a young specialist. And sometimes I am baffled by how easily my peers change companies. I worked for a month or two - and it was sunset. Sometimes without even saying goodbye. Just ignore on all fronts and in all chats🙀
This phenomenon was called "ghosting"
And here’s what’s interesting: they haven’t done this before. My parents, for example, like many representatives of their generation, work in the same organization for 10-20 years. Even if there is complete trash, toxicity and wages are half the market. Just because “it’s necessary.” Because “it’s not nice to leave.” Because “it won’t look good on a resume”🫠
And now we have different coordinates. We grew up in a world where everything is fast. Content, feedback, career. If something or someone doesn’t respond, move on. And it’s not a matter of immaturity or laziness, as they like to say. And the fact is that we were taught to choose. Be in search until you find yours. And do not endure for the sake of “stability,” which is essentially illusory😵💫
Plus, let's be honest: a lot of companies still don't know how to work with novice specialists. You walk in with sparkling eyes, but no one even thinks of supporting you in this enthusiasm. No onboarding, or at least a normal task in which you will understand why you came to the office today. And then they are surprised that you didn’t go out on Monday🥺
I'm not saying that ghosting is okay. This is a destructive thing. Especially for the team. But I’m not ready to blame only young guys for it. Sometimes it's just a reaction to a system that doesn't allow room for aspirations and the implementation of your own ideas. Where is it easier to disappear than to say “I can’t cope” or “I feel bad here”😳
As for me, I was lucky. One way or another, all the companies I have worked for (and I'm working at the moment), provided me with the opportunity not just to work, but to develop in the way I want. This was the case at Solar, where I managed to develop a web application out of sheer enthusiasm to automate the entire routine within the department, and this is what is happening now at K2 Cyber Security💻
But I personally know many guys whose situation is very different. And, to be honest, I have no desire to judge them. I wish there were more companies where young people don’t have to disappear in order to build their own lives the way they would like.🏃♂️
Today we are philosophizing. In the comments, write your opinion on everything that is happening now with young specialists in IT and not only🥳
