Let's talk about the work format 🥰

Sometimes it seems like it's just a matter of convenience. Some people like to come to the office, some live on Zoom, and some do a combination. But the longer I work, the more I understand that this is not about convenience, but about the feeling of life in general

When I worked completely remotely in Kontur, the first couple of weeks seemed like a blast. No traffic jams, you can code while lying on your bed. And then suddenly there comes a moment when you don’t understand where the day ends. And where is “work” and where is “life”? My routine disappeared, I stopped going to the gym, and every day turned into one endless “well, I’ll finish it a little more.” I ended up living inside a workday that never ended ☠️

Add to this the two-hour difference from Yekaterinburg - and we get the perfect recipe for how to burn yourself out without even noticing. You seem to be in a company, but you feel as if you are a freelancer who is simply given tasks. Without the feeling that you are part of a team, without the “office effect”, where you can be charged with the energy of your colleagues and catch the right work vibe ( I’m a zoomer, so at least let there be a “vibe” somewhere and not a “mood” )

When I switched to a hybrid, it became different ( before Kontur, when I worked at Solar, I also had a hybrid ). There is a sense of frame: now the day has begun, now it has ended. If you want, come to the office, if you want, work from home. And the main thing that emerged was balance. I was finally able to go to the gym again, combine graduate school, projects and just live 🥰

If we look more broadly, we find that according to the data Gallup, Now about 51% of employees around the world choose the hybrid format, another 28% choose pure remote work, and less than 21% sit in the office full-time. In Russia, according to "Russian newspaper" Only about a third of employees live as a hybrid, while more than 70% would like to work this way. Most still go to the office five days a week, a habit that companies find hard to break ( poor employees )

But the most interesting thing is not in the numbers, but in how people feel. A Gallup study found that hybrid workers have higher levels of job and life satisfaction than office workers and those who stay at home full-time. Simply because it is a compromise where you maintain both freedom and discipline 🤲

Hybrid is not about “I don’t want to go to the office.” This is about the opportunity to choose for yourself where it is more effective for you to be today. Sometimes with coffee and headphones at home, and sometimes among people, where ideas are born literally in a conversation at the coffee machine

Even in the last 10 months of working at K2 Cybersecurity, I have had moments when I came to the office at several times. only days in a row from 7 am to 8 pm simply because my work efficiency increased ( I’ll immediately make a reservation that I did this of my own free will, because officially our working day begins at 10:00 and ends at 18:30). This is very important for me if there is a lot of work and it needs to be completed in a short time. That being said, there are times when I can work remotely and not feel like I’m missing out on something. This is precisely why I love the hybrid work format. ❤️‍🔥

For me, hybrid is the perfect balance between personal space and a sense of belonging. This is a format in which I really feel like I’m living and not just working.
