The devil pulled me to look at the rules before going to bed...
Got a video (

with a demonstration of opening and closing a window using Alice. Nothing special, in my opinion. But I opened the comments and regretted it. I just can’t wean myself off this habit, which is damaging my faith in humanity.
“Soon Alice will go to the toilet for you”, “Chel installed spy equipment”, “What will you do if the lights are turned off?”
- and this is only part of what I read while facepalming
I will indicate the position here. This is not about opening a window, but about the “Smart Home” in general
You know that I championed and continue to champion the Internet of Things, a particular example of which is the Smart Home. My PhD thesis is on the Personal Internet of Things. Therefore, I have something to say about all this. Let's get started
Comment group "Laziness"
Many commentators believe that soon a person will forget how to do anything with his hands and the plot of “WALL·E” awaits us. But these people forget that they buy food in the store, and do not get it themselves. None of them carry water in buckets or light candles at home. Throughout history, humanity has been trying to make life easier for itself. Vacuum cleaner, car, light bulb, toilet, washing machine. All this appeared so as not to waste a lot of time on servicing yourself. We would never have reached the current pace of life if we still washed by hand and performed at least part of the operations of our ancestors every day. Technology has given us time to explore the world, create and develop. Yes, we are dependent on them. But they free up time and energy for more important tasks. Should you spend all your free time serving yourself or should you instead learn and create? For me the choice is obvious
Comment group “Wiretap”
Other people talked about Alice as a means of transmitting data to the FSB. The government is watching us, Big Brother and that's all. I have nothing to do with Yandex, Alice, Max and others. But something tells me that almost everything that has access to the Internet listens to us. People, do you want complete privacy? She's gone. I’ll say more: it didn’t exist. Any government in any period of history has tried to protect itself, and now advertising has been added to this as a way to make money from large corporations. According to Max, my position is principled only because he is forced to install, and I am against imposition. Nobody forces you to buy Yandex Station. That's why I have two of them :) This is my decision, made with the understanding that, in theory, I could be bugged. This applies not only to Yandex, but also to Siri, ChatGPT and other software that I use. And you too, by the way. Don't fool yourself. If you are afraid of wiretapping and data collection, go live in the forest and turn off all means of communication.
Group of comments “Something will be turned off”
They turn off the lights/Internet/you, and what will you do with your smart home?
Um, do you really need to comment on this?
If the power goes out, you won’t just be unable to use your smart home. Your “classic” house will turn into a village hut. If there is a problem with the Internet, then the Smart Home will not work... or will it? ZigBee, BLE, IR and other technologies have left the chat. Different protocols make consumer electronics and personal Internet of Things universal. BLE doesn't care whether your Wi-Fi works or not. These are different technologies, they do not depend on each other. Therefore, it is stupid to say that without the Internet the entire “Smart Home” will turn into nothing. The current “Smart Home” is not ideal. Yes, not everything is convenient and works well. But cars once also started from a crooked starter, but now you can press a button. What am I talking about
Don't be the people who leave comments like that. This shows stupidity and reluctance to accept new things. This example is scalable to any electronics and PIoT. Everything that a person uses every day as a given was also invented by someone. Laziness is the engine of progress. And it opens up new horizons for studying and understanding the world. And this is something to live for. But definitely not for the sake of daily hand washing on a board
In general, if you need to explain, then you don’t need to explain. I'm just boiling
