There's an interesting one here news . Let's take a look
At the end of 2023, the total number of connected IoT devices in the country amounted to 86 million. By 2027, their number is predicted to be 135 million. The volume of the IoT market in Russia is 150–170 billion rubles, with approximately two-thirds of this volume accounting for the industrial Internet of things. In the next five years, the growth of this segment could reach 24%
At the same time, in industry the situation with import substitution is the most difficult. Many controllers and MES (manufacturing process management) systems were Western-made, and vendors left the market in 2022. Only 33% of companies were able to find a full-fledged replacement for software and equipment among Russian developments; the rest made only partial replacements
KOMMERSANT
The growing interest in IoT in Russia, especially in industry, is a positive trend that shows that technology is becoming an increasingly important part of the economy
In my opinion, import substitution in the IoT segment requires a systematic approach. It is not enough to simply replace Western components - you need to develop your own technologies and platforms that will meet current requirements and at the same time set the vector of development for the future. Russian companies should focus on creating a full development cycle: from the production of sensors and controllers to building device management ecosystems
Another important task is to support start-ups and independent developers who can offer innovative solutions. But without serious investments in science and technology, it will be difficult to create competitive products
The difficulties are obvious, but the IoT market remains one of the most promising areas. I hope that we will eventually come to something more viable and effective
What do you think? Is everyone depressed or is there some optimism?
