Smart home standard? Future, is that you?🤯
On these Internets of yours, in addition to memes and cats, sometimes you can find interesting news. Well here's howthis, For example. By the way, we have here withOn February 1, 2025, GOST standards for smart homes came into force. Let's figure out what this means⤵
What's new?
Now a smart home is a complex that includes motion sensors, ignition and gas leak detection systems, as well as smart metering devices and resource-saving systems that, for example, “adjust” the temperature themselves depending on the weather. GOSTs establish general requirements for how all these devices should interact with each other. This will help separate really high-tech houses from marketing fakes, when developers claim a “smart home”, but in reality they have minimal functionality. Also, houses will now be classified according to their level of equipment. This will give future residents a chance to understand what they are paying for and what exactly they will receive upon delivery of the new building.🪄
Why is this important?
Previously, the term “smart home” was often used as a beautiful marketing ploy. One developer could sell “innovative housing”, meaning only the possibility of free redevelopment (well, marketers love to mention smart home and artificial intelligence everywhere). Now, thanks to GOSTs, standards are becoming clear and specific🤬 😱
GOSTs will streamline technical solutions. This is especially important for government customers who will already have to apply these standards. Residents of such standardized smart homes will receive a sustainable increase in safety and comfort in their homes (because it will be regulated). But, of course, it will not be without difficulties - the standards are not yet mandatory, and much depends on how quickly they become the legal basis in this direction🤔
In my opinion, the implementation of GOST standards is important for the industry. This is not a magic pill, but clearly defined frameworks will help make smart homes truly high-quality and safe. I understand that people may write to me in the comments that this is all bullshit and none of it works as it should. But I will answer - you are wrong. I work in the field of information security, where we have everything clearly regulated, there are a bunch of requirements, standards and various regulations. And, you know, yes, this does not cancel hacking and hacker attacks. But I can assure you that without what we have now, they would break even more and more often. Chaos and discord do not add reliability. Not at all. Therefore, it is good that the government apparatus has finally begun to look towards the Internet of Things. This will add much more stability (and let’s find out which one it is)🙏
What do you think about this?🧐
