The second month of 2025 is coming to an end. Since the beginning of the year, I have had time to read another book, so now you will find both a review of it and a story about one area in IT that you may not have heard of.
🧐
This time in front of me was the work of Vyacheslav Mizgulin "Systems engineer. How to start a career in a new technological order" . And I’ll say right away that the book is wonderful, I would give it everything 10 out of 10
🔝
Now let me tell you more about everything
🦜
Why systems engineering?
Systems engineering is a discipline that teaches you to see the entire project as a whole ( from idea to operation ). A systems engineer is responsible for the entire life cycle of a product, be it the construction of a security system or the development of an IoT device. That is, in essence, a systems engineer is a one-man orchestra who brings together a variety of specialists in a team and makes sure that the end result really works and brings benefits
✅
Let's talk about the book
In his book, Vyacheslav talks about exactly how systems engineering is used in the context of different projects. Particularly attracted ( specifically me ) that he considers IoT cases. Without a systematic approach, Internet of Things projects can fall apart if someone does not take into account customer requirements or does not record important restrictions ( not to mention the fact that someone may even forget to test the hardware in real conditions ). There's a lot of pain, but there's also a lot of solutions
📝
General impression
The author explains step by step how systems engineering is used in a project, where the work of an analyst, architect, tester begins, and when it all comes together. At the same time, he gives many real examples
🤩
I also liked that there is no heavy language. Everything related to the life cycle, distribution of roles and stages of development is presented quite clearly
👍
The book is a cheerful read, with humor and explains many points. As I mentioned above, I subjectively rate it 10/10
