Abstract
Existing methods for protecting personal Internet of things (PIoT) devices require constant and continuous modernization to take into account the possible emergence of new threats and vulnerabilities. An important and urgent task is to develop a universal and effective approach to ensuring the security of such devices, taking into account the limited resources of manufacturers of consumer electronics in the IoT segment. This study proposes the use of a mathematical model with criteria for the complexity of implementation and universality of protection mechanisms to perform ranking of protection mechanisms in order to increase the security of portable smart devices with their optimal implementation, taking into account the costs of the developer and in accordance with the requirements of current legislation in the field of information security. The object of study of this work is the process of ensuring information security of personal Internet of Things devices, taking into account existing regulatory and technical requirements, as well as the limited resources of manufacturers and developers. The subject of the study is a set of protection mechanisms for PIoT devices, selected and ranked based on the developed mathematical model with two criteria. An approach to the selection of protection mechanisms for personal Internet of Things devices is proposed based on a mathematical model with criteria for the complexity of implementation and the universality of protection mechanisms. As part of the presented research, a detailed analysis of recommendations and requirements for ensuring the security of personal Internet of Things devices in international and domestic standards was carried out and the possibilities of their implementation were investigated with the efficient allocation of manufacturer resources using a mathematical model with two criteria. The scientific novelty of this research work lies in the fact that an original approach was proposed to the selection of protection mechanisms for PIoT devices based on a mathematical model with two criteria, which allows, while minimizing development and operation costs, to effectively take into account current threats and regulatory requirements. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the introduction of an approach to the selection of security mechanisms for personal Internet of Things devices based on a mathematical model with complexity and versatility criteria is a promising and potentially the most effective means of solving existing problems of choosing security mechanisms for personal Internet of Things devices in conditions of limited manufacturer resources.
